  1. Sperm or spermatozoon in biology, is the male 
  2. gamete of animals. Each sperm cell has a head 
  3. capsule containing a nucleus, a middle 
  4. portion containing mitochondria (which 
  5. provide energy), and a long tail (flagellum).  
  6. In most animals, the sperm are motile, and 
  7. are propelled by a long flagellum, but in 
  8. some (such as crabs and lobsters) they are 
  9. nonmotile.
